They took out chunks with ice cream scoops.
The Holy Body was walking along the cliffs.

They took the Body,
broke him down;
he screamed and shuddered at the sound.
The body won’t take what the mind can’t risk.

After all these things he’s been through,
you’d think he’d be used to just a little light.

A life well-lived in focus groups
I took all my problems and gave them to you
I picked them like berries and let them
rot in the daylight.

A leaf wrapped in glass and blood.
I tremble at the wind
for fear of floods.
Termites get shelter every chance I miss.

After all these things I’ve been through,
stick a hot poker right into both my eyes.
And there are bridges that I’ve burned through.
You’d think I’d be used to just a little light.

You always tell me "I can't read your mind"
but I would find that power if I had the time
I’d be with everybody, just be myself
Be with no one, just beam and shelf
